City of Philadelphia departments spent $105.1 million in overtime through the second quarter of FY2021, a decrease of $8.0 million or 7.0 percent over the same period last year, an unintended benefit of the COVID-19 pandemic, as as facilities are closed or operating with decreased hours, and much City programming has been paused or decreased. The Fire Department, the Office of the City Commissioners, the Office of Property Assessment, and the Office of the Director of Finance all increased overtime spending by a significant amount. 10 key departments were responsible for 97.5 percent of overtime spending.
