The City collected approximately $237.3 million in General Fund tax revenue in June of FY2022, compared to $214.0 million in June of FY2021, an increase of approximately $23.3 million, or 10.9% according to preliminary collections figures. Monthly collections bounced back in the last month of the fiscal year after, in May, experiencing the first collections decrease since October. Collections increased for every tax category, as shown in Table 1, except the beverage and other miscellaneous taxes (for which an end-of-year adjustment resulted in a negative figure for June). June collections for the City portion of the wage, earnings, and net profits taxes increased only slightly, by $105,850, or 0.1%. However, BIRT (business income and receipts tax) increased by $3.0 million, or 21.5 percent; the real estate tax by $8.8 million; and the realty transfer tax by $9.4 million, or 35.4%, as 33 homes sold in June for more than one million dollars each.
